& Youth Development Playmates This
Parent/Caregiver & Tot drop-in program for is intended for children ages 0-5
years. Playmates provides an opportunity for parents/caregivers and children to
socialize and interact through playtime, art activities, and stories. Playmates
is held Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 - 11:30 am. Tumble
Time This
Parent/Caregiver & Tot drop-in gym program is intended for children ages 0-5
years. Tumble Time provides an opportunity for parents/caregivers and children
to interact and be active. This non-instructional play program encourages the
development of gross motor skills and coordination. Tumble Time is held Fridays
from 10:00 -11:30 am at the Base Gym. Before
School Kindergarten
to Grade 12 Monday
to Friday from 7:15 - 8:45 am Doors
open at 7:15 am. No access to the Youth Centre will be granted before this
time. The
Youth Centre opens during these times so that students may come in from the inclement
weather and perhaps purchase a snack from the canteen. Out
of School Care Centre This
program, licensed by Alberta Child and Family Services, offers 25 spaces for children
in Kindergarten to Grade 6, Monday to Friday from 3:30 - 5:00 pm and on Early
Dismissals and PD Days. Registration is required. Friday
Night Drop-In Every
Friday night from 5:30 - 8:00 pm (unless an event requiring pre-registration is
taking place) Grades 1 to 6 Reminder
to all youth: There is no charge to come hang out! Only if a special event is
planned and registration is needed is a fee charged. FULLY
STOCKED CANTEEN, BOARD GAMES, VIDEO GAMES, AIR HOCKEY, COMPUTER, INTERNET, FOOSBALL,
KARAOKE, MUSIC, BOOKS, LEGO AND MORE! Parents
are reminded that this is a drop-in centre and staff do not monitor the youths
comings and goings. All youth attending the centre must be mature enough to handle
limited supervision and behave appropriately. Anyone unwilling to respect and
follow the rules will be asked to leave for the duration of that day. If inappropriate
behaviour continues a parent will be notified. Family
Bus Trips Several
family bus trips are offered throughout the year to military families. These may
include, but are not limited to, the West Edmonton Mall, Fort Edmonton Park, the
Edmonton Zoo, and Commonwealth Stadium for an Edmonton Eskimo football game. Activities
and Initiatives - The
MFRC offers several skill development courses and workshops throughout the year.
These may include, but are not limited to, the Babysitter's course and the Home
Alone Course.
- Special
events are offered bi-monthly as an opportunity for social interaction. These
events may include, but are not limited to, dances, meet & greets, theme/holiday
parties, etc.
